I saw a cartoon where a couple's bed is taken over by three large great danes. One little heeler/sheltie does it for me, lying on the covers so I freeze to death
4 AM she has gone to sleep on the couch. Probaby too warm on the bed.
I woke from a dream where I had a baby and was a refugee in the wilderness in some primitive Mid Eastern country. In the dream I had escaped from being held in a building.
11:30 AM Gottta get to dog park and back before Martha comes to pick me up to spend aft admiring her new kitchen. Sun is shining.
Pleasant at the dog park. Dozens of dogs. Woman told me that Buddy got into four fights yesterday.
Blitzkrieg's Tale
Lots and lots of dog at the park today. I am still tired from yesterday.
Lady Chica's Tale
Not much going on. Lots and lots of big dogs but nobody came over near the fence. I was glad to come home.
Martha picked me up at 2:30 and we just hung out. Jeff had bought champagne for us to toast the new kitchen. Gorgeous. I took a nap. We watched Olympic hockey game. Watched closing ceremony with sound off. music playing.

This was told in flash backs and I had a hard time getting into it. Four Beck brothers. had a rumble when they were in high school with the Vonn bros. Saw Janelle, age four.
Later Nick became sheriff's deputy and was in charge of homicide of Janelle, age 19,
Andy is a reporter. This was 1968. Thirty six years later, 2004, Andy uncovers the real murderer. No more said. Martha gets mad at me when I reveal the ending.

I am not going to Baptist Center. I emailed the director on Sunday. It would not be decent of me to expose the homeless to whatever I have.
my cough is worse this morning. Vicks really helps.
I have plenty of food, leftovers from Thanksgiving. I dont need anything. I may get a thermometer from Walmart to check on temp.
I got a thermometer and do not have a fever. Went to dog park. Judy and Szabo turned up Judy and I discussed "hoarders" and obsessive people.
Blitzen's Tale
We went to the dog park and it rained. Szabo and his mom turned up. I was glad to see her. Szabo and I got in trouble but the man took his little busters into the next area.
Lady Chica's Tale
That Szabo is as bad as Blitzen. They pester people. Yes, they do. I just ran around. It was raining and no other dogs were out.
Took a nap. Feeling one hundred percent bettter at 5:23 PM. Woke up in time to hear Prez.
I was moved to tears by the President's address. He is a great orator.
I have never been convinced we need to go into Afganistan but so be it.
Feeling much better. My cough has lessened.

T. Jefferson Parker, *The Fallen*
Parker is a great author, but I dont like all of his books. In this book he seems to be focused on synesthesia, a subject better tackled by Oliver Sacks. Robbie Brownlaw falls out of a hotel window and suffers brain damage, resulting in synesthesia, where he sees colors when people talk. Brownlaw is a "dead dick" as he calls it for San Diego police.
Garrett Asplundh is an ethics investigator for the city. He is found dead. And of course Brownlaw and his partner are on the case. Police procedural. IMHO the plot is not believable.

Oh, dear, Adam is killed in MI 5. He is my favorite. Are they replacing the entire cast?
Reading the Mystery novel. Place of Execution. The novel is more detailed but the tv program seems to be true to it. The tv program does not describe how medeival the setting.
Friday morning. I was up and down all night for pit stops. The dogs are scratching like mad and their tummies are talking. I wonder what they ate when they visited Pup.
Official unemployment is 10%. NPR figures that with discouraged workers etc unemployment is 17%. I did not know that unemployment was so high in 1983.
Went to Tai Chi. I come home exhausted and we dont do that much. Ate pea soup at senior center. Got food from food bank.

We received the news that our glass projects were ready. So Lea, Erin and I drove over to pick them up. They are better than I expected. Beautiful. We are each happy.

This is the second book in Merci Rayborn series. I know the plot, having read the third book. In this book Merci has a son by her lover in the first book, who was killed. She has another lover and accuses him of murder. Arrests him for the murder of a call girl. The third book explains what happens.
I recommend this book. read in sequence

Tai chi this morning. Off to Senior Center. 48 degrees ce matin. I have a pile of strips to sew.
Senior Center had a costume competition. Several were really good. Did tai chi and went Krogering. I was about to take a nap when Martha came by with leftovers. chicken cacciatore, a huge amount of stir fry and chicken soup and some dumplings. Enuf food for about a month. And it is all superb.
Whatever I do, Martha laughs and said you always did that --- like leave projects undone.
I was writing tonight and I clicked the wrong button and it vanished. I took two naps. Then we went to dog park where my dogs did not run. They just sat around on the tables coaxing people to pet them Watching my usual Friday tv programs.

I did not even go near the fence tonight. Those old busters were calling and calling.

I am tired out from being at Pup's. We stayed up just too late last night.

This is the prequel to *Black Water*. Merci Rayborn is a deputy sheriff in Orange County CA. In this book she gets pregnant with Tim. She is paired with Hess, an older man, to find a serial killer. I like this book less than the later one. There are chapters devoted to the killer. I hate this. I just want to find bodies and solve puzzles.

My dogs would not run with Buddy and Chance. Buddy stood at the fence crying.
Eventually the hour was up and we came home.

I dont know why it didt feel right at the park today. I went up to a little boy and let him pet me.

Police Procedural. Orange County Sheriff's deputies Marci and Zamorra. Another book about a bullet in the brain. The reader learns a lot. (Acknowledgements to doctors by author. Author attended a seminar.) A fellow deputy, Archie, is found critically injured and his wife dead. Marci and Zamorra are trying to prove it was not homicide/suicide. (The prolog is the story of what happens. We know that Archie is not the killer.)
Archie gets out of hospital and tracks down and kills the killers. Then he makes wings and flies off a cliff to join his wife whom he thinks is hovering there.

Managed to get up and off to SS and church. Our Sunday School class is reading Marcus Borg, *Reading the Bible again for the First Time*. Our teacher is writing his dissertation at Bright Divinity School at TCU. He is writing on the New Testament.
Came home and took a nap. So wht's new? Then we went to dog park. A woman was chittering chattering away and I got no reading done. She is a dog trainer and another woman was consulting her. Lady Chica dug a little hole in the dirt and lay down in the shade.

Mom already said I dug a little hole. Actually I enlarged the hole where Blitzen tried to get under the fence. I will be glad when it gets cooler.

I am planning to watch Mystery on PBS. Inspector Lewis. Inspired by the Inspector Morse series. I liked the program last week.

Charlie Hood police procedural. Hood is a deputy sheriff in LA Sheriff's Dept. He is on patrol one night when his partner is shot down in front of his eyes. He is then recruited by IA to find the killer. He starts digging into his partner's past to find that partner is not Mr. Wonderful who brings toys to kids at Xmas.
